What is a Christian?
I guess the term has become a bit more complex than its original meaning of being a "Christ-like one."
But with due cause... let me explain.
Over the years radical, very strange, and very wrong groups have emerged. You know these people, perhaps even personally; perhaps you are one. I hate to point fingers, but enumerated among the nonChristians, that think they are Christians are Jehovah's Witness, Mormons, Roman Catholics (not to be confused with catholic), Iglesia ni Kristo, Delphianist, 'Christian' Scientists, and the list goes on.
If I could think of one main thing that summarized what a Christian believes, it has got to be the Nicene Creed. And I repeat is as many times as I can weekly.
We believe in (Romans 10: 8-10; 1 John 4: 15) ONE God, (Deuteronomy 6: 4, Ephesians 4: 6) Father (Matthew 6: 9) Almighty, (Exodus 6: 3) Maker of Heaven and Earth, (Genesis 1: 1) and of all things visible and invisible. (Colossians 1: 15-16)
And in ONE Lord Jesus Christ, (Acts 11: 17) Son of God, (Mathew 14: 33; 16: 16) Only-Begotten, (John 1: 18; 3: 16) Begotten of the Father before all ages. (John 1: 2) Light from Light; (Psalm 27: 1; John 8: 12; Matthew 17: 2,5) True God from True God; (John 17: 1-5) Begotten, not made; (John 1: 18) of one essence with the Father (John 10: 30) through whom all things were made; (Hebrews 1: 1-2) Who for us men and for our salvation (1 Timothy 2: 4-5) came down from heaven, (John 6: 33,35) and was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary (Luke 1: 35) and became man. (John 1: 14) And He was crucified for us (Mark 15: 25; 1 Corinthians 15: 3) under Pontius Pilate, (John 19: 6) suffered, (Mark 8: 31) and was buried. (Luke 23: 53; 1 Corinthians 15: 4) And on the third day He rose again, according to the Scriptures, (Luke 24: 1 1 Corinthians 15: 4) and ascended into heaven, (Luke 24: 51; Acts 1: 10) and sits at the right hand of the Father; (Mark 16: 19; Acts 7: 55) and He shall come again with glory (Matthew 24: 27) to judge the living and the dead; (Acts 10: 42; 2 Timothy 4: 1) Whose Kingdom shall have no end. (2 Peter 1: 11)
And in the Holy Spirit, (John 14: 26) Lord, (Acts 5: 3-4) Giver of Life, (Genesis 1: 2) Who proceeds from the Father [and the Son]; (John 15: 26) Who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified; (Matthew 3: 16-17) Who spoke through the prophets. (1 Samuel 19: 20; Ezekiel 11: 5,13)
In one, (Matthew 16: 18) holy, (1 Peter 2: 5,9) catholic, (Mark 16: 15) and apostolic Church. (Acts 2: 42; Ephesians 2: 19-22)
I acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins. (Ephesians 4: 5) I look for the resurrection of the dead, (John 11: 24; 1 Corinthians 15: 12-49; Hebrews 6: 2; Revelation 20: 5) and the life in the age to come. (Mark 10: 29-30)
AMEN. (Psalm 106: 48)
Now I know I can and most likely will be flamed. But let's first go over one of the more obvious "contradictions" in this post.
The word catholic should never be confused with the Roman Catholic Church. Here's the simplest explanation of why.
The word catholic comes from the Greek word KATHOLIKOS which comes from KATA (a preposition with various meanings depending on the context, often meaning "down" or "negative" as in "catabolic" or "catastrophe" or "cathode," but also often meaning "according to")and HOLOS (meaning "whole" as in "holistic medicine," which claims to treat the whole patient and not just the particular ailment complained of), nd thus means, literally, "according to the whole."
St. Ignacious once stated that the church is katholikos or catholic, because it is for every man, woman, and child. He stated the church is "universal" in who it consists of. How can a roman catholic church exist? To me, it's like the term civil war, an oximoron. In fact St. Irenaeus argued that Christ had never handed any privy knowledge to anyone, which is counter the current claims of the RCC.
Moving on the Nicene Creed was adopted in the early 4th Century.. but it's points, such as Christ-God, and the Trinity since before then existed. In fact as early as pre-second century with the writing of the Gospels we read that "In the begining was the Word, and the Word was God, and the Word was with God. The same was in the begging with God. (John 1:1-2)" The Trinity (Trinitas) was a term used earlier on as well in 160 A.D by Theophilus bishop of Antioch in 160 A.D. Remember Antioch? The church from Acts 11:26... the first place where the term in debate "Christian" was used. And from when the term was first coin based on 1 John 5:7 (these three are one) which itself appears in the syraic text (completion 120 A.D.) and earlier manuscripts that may even predate the close of the first century, as well as later and parrallel manuscripts.
So where are these crazy guys getting there ideas from? Firstly, let me open up by saying the 1611 King James Bible has so far been the ONLY authorized translation. It's Old Testmanent passages come from the Rabbinic period where the scriptures were organized into what is now called the Ben Haim, the earliest complete source of the Old testmanent. The New Testament scriptures translate from most of the available materials that the Scholars had available literally 99.4% of available documents match. In fact they used several textus from which the crossed referenced the scriptures (defeating the foolish notion that 1 John 5:7 was an add-in). It's also the only public domain (non copyrighted, freely quotable) translation. Why would anyone want to copyright the Holy Bible? Same reason as why Satan does anything else. Profit. Imagine profiting of the Word of God?
Of course concurrently and afterwards other scripts were written. I believe it was Theophilus himself that rejected the greek Hexipla for including paganistic ideas such as modalism, yes modalism... Unitarians beware. Later these were translated into both the Vaticanus (RCC uses this currently) and the Satanicus its sister version, both latin scripts. Of course there are latin vulgates that do correspond with the greek and aramaic manuscripts. You ever noticed that the cults never like to read from the english King James Version? Why's that... here's why they have a rewrite... yes a rewrite, completely different. They will version hope between the New Age Version, from NIV to NLT... the only thing is these version were based on the leftover 0.6 % manuscripts from the New Testmanent... Guess where the Old Testmantment translations are from? Well sometime back in the 1940s there was a release of the Old Testmant in Europe. Funny thing was it was written in Germany, buy one of Hilter's best men, a Nazi... and a lot of Jews don't realize that they are reading the Nazi Bible. Scared yet? Good, cause realize that the debate over whether alam meant virgin or not didn't erupt to the level its at until the 1950's when this version of the Old Testmanent hit American Shores. Coincidence? Hmm...
Now I have already posted many things about these groups, the Trinitarian Doctrine, and Christ-God...
...So why this post?...
Because honestly, I have had my fill and I am sick to the stomache over the falsified Christian posers misleading innocent people... And I am in complete justificiation for these feelings. But, I weep for you all that find is so difficult to agree with these doctrines express in the Nicene Creed, which by the way was signed by all but two members of the council (think about this now) and they never listed a reason for withholding signature. You know test have shown that is it much easier to believe these doctrines than counterpoint because of the extreme length in twisting interpretations that people must take to disprove them. I think, that for these hellfire might be a little hotter, but whose to say. My deepest sorrows to those that commit 2 Peter 3:16. My plee come to Christ.
But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. ~2Cr 11:13
At face value these are the simplest and most evident things to concord with scripture, and even to a deeper level I have found in my personal studies. They tie the lose ends up with ease.
Just for once will all the real Christians put your hands up!!!
In my next post I hope to discuss 2 things, the Evangelical Ego and the Pentecostal Prison.
The Love of our Father and God, the power of the Son and our Lord, the fellowship of the Holy Spirit with you all,
